This Board Level Responsibility for Information Security event was very well attended despite horrendous wintery weather conditions.  The high level audience were attracted to this Institute of Directors (IOD)and Humber Business Resilience (HBRF) joint event to hear about board level responsibility for information security, as they heard it is not just about GDPR.  The event was opened by local IOD Chair Pat Coyle and Chaired by Gordon Meldrum the Chairman of the HBRF then set the scene an managed the Q & A at the end.

The high profile audience heard Ralph Gilbert (Rollits) talk about the legal responsibilities for information security, Norman Mortell (Agenda Screening Services) then spoke about how to develop a board driven cyber strategy and Blair Jacobs (Blair Jacobs Communications) gave useful advice for dealing with the issue if it all goes wrong.  This thought provoking event focused on how directors must take the lead and responsibility for information security within their organisation, it was clear that it is not just an IT issue but a wider ranging leadership, strategic and hearts and minds issue to develop a security aware culture that protects the organisations assets whilst also ensuring that the directors are taking care of their regulatory and legal responsibilities.  The event was extremely well received with positive feedback from the delegates who were engaged and interested throughout.

The event closed with a Q & A and a tour of the excellent IT@Spectrum and One Point offices who kindly hosted the event (and the excellent breakfast).
